Be heard: Help us legalize marijuana

Did you know how simple it is to go on record supporting marijuana reform?
February 11, 2020

Today, as many of the pundits are talking about the New Hampshire presidential primary election, we are looking at things in a very different way - how can we influence the Congress we have now to take action and end marijuana prohibition before they are up for reelection.

We are closer than we ever have been before to having a vote on the floor of the House, but we still have much work to do. The MORE Act, H.R. 3884, has already successfully passed through the House Judiciary Committee on a bipartisan vote and been waived through one of the remaining 7 committees that intersect with marijuana criminalization. In the last year, we have helped recruit seventy cosponsors of the bill.

While this is exciting, that's only 70 out of 435. We can't afford to sit idly by and hope that Congress does the right thing.

Our records indicate that you have yet to contact your elected officials - do so right now in less than 30 seconds.

Elected officials need to understand that this is a priority for the constituents they represent- I.E. YOU! This could be the biggest year for marijuana legalization, but only if we keep up the pressure and make it crystal clear that this legislation is a top priority for Americans everywhere. Our representatives need to know that they cannot continue to ignore the destruction caused by marijuana criminalization.

Every 48 seconds an American is arrested for a marijuana-related crime according to recently released 2018 data. That total is more than 21 percent higher than the total number of persons arrests for the commission of violent crimes (521,103) that year.

Take less time than that to send a message to your Representative to support the MORE Act, the bipartisan bill to end federal marijuana criminalization once and for all.

Thanks for all you do,

P.S. Our movement is funded by thousands of people throughout the country as we work to advance marijuana reform in all 50 states and the federal level, not the marijuana industry or other special interests. Can you kick in $5, $10 or $20 a month to help us keep going?
